Shakespeare at Lake Placid Elementary
4th graders and scripts


4th graders at Lake Placid Elementary work with artist Lindsay Pontius and their classroom teachers (Mrs. Mendelssohn, Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Brewer) on scenes from Shakespeare's THE TEMPEST. On this day, the students receive their scripts and work with peer partners on scenes from the play. The play will be shared amongst 4th grade classes who will perform an abridged version for the school.

Cumberland Head Elementary LCB Project

K-5 Special Education students in four classrooms at Cumberland Head Elementary work with visual artist, Bucky Seiden, art teacher, Mrs. Piché-Smith, and their classroom teachers - Mrs. Kelley, Mrs. Trombley, Mrs. Spaulding, and Mrs. Baehre - as well as classroom aids, in a project that explores the theme of unity. As part of their journey students discover, and later depict, words and symbols, land and water animals, and people from different cultural backgrounds first as drawings and then out of clay. The clay figures are combined to create a mosaic that represents a unified world and will be on permanent displayed as a clay mural in the front hallway of their school.

Northern Adirondack Central LCB Project

In this session, 9th and 10th graders learn about casting plaster with artist, Sue Young. The plaster is used to create a "press mold" of symbols students have formed out of clay. Students chose symbols with special significance to their lives and will use the molds to ornament the outside of totems they created.

Picture taking in the Woods smHigh School Environmental Science and Photography students from Westport Central School go on one of several outings with science teacher, Mr. Fiegl, and naturalist, guide, and artist, Elizabeth Lee, to explore the landscape around them and to look for patterns in nature.

St. Mary's School LCB Project
J. Vilardo at St. Mary's sm


Architect, Joe Vilardo works with 5th, 6th and 7th grade students at St. Mary's School in Ticonderoga who have created design layouts for a multi-purpose space in the basement of the church.  Using an ELMO visual projector to display their layout designs on the wall, Joe takes students and teachers through a "crit" or critique of the student designs.
